Tablet sales scored a minor increase of just 0.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022, but this isn’t necessarily a surprise given the demand was already showing signs of slowdowns during the whole year anyway.
The most notable bit in the fourth quarter, however, is the performance of Apple’s iPad, which accounted for nearly 50 percent of all tablet sales in the world.
IDC data shows that Apple sold 49.2 percent of the tablets the planet bought in the quarter, up from 38.3 percent in the same quarter of the previous year.
If you want to put this into numbers, then Apple sold 22.5 million tablets, whereas number 2 Samsung shipped just 7.7 units. The South Korean company still managed to post a 7.1 percent year-over-year, but with a market share of just 16.8 percent, it’s still very far from leader Apple.
