It’s no longer a secret that Android is the world’s number one mobile phone platform, and new data shows that this is very unlikely to change anytime soon, as Google’s OS continues to dominate in terms of new device activations.
Figures provided by CIRP show that Android accounted for 63 percent of all activations in the June 2018 quarter in the United States, while iOS was the runner-up with 36 percent.
And while the difference between the two platforms continues to be quite huge, Apple users may want to see the glass half full and learn that Cupertino improved its share as compared to the same period the year before.
“Apple iOS improved its share of activations relative to last quarter and to one year ago,” Josh Lowitz, Partner and Co-Founder of CIRP, is quoted as saying. “This reverses the trend from a year ago, when Apple’s share fell relative to the March 2017 quarter. … (read more)
