The Cupertino-based tech giant was originally believed to be planning a new 4-inch model borrowing design cues from the iPhone X, like the notch and the edge-to-edge display.
The unveiling was expected in the spring of 2018, with some people with knowledge of the matter then claiming that Apple could announce the new model at WWDC in early June – a first for the company given that WWDC is a software conference.
With a WWDC announcement nowhere to be seen, it was then speculated that the iPhone SE 2 is held back for the fall of 2018 when Apple introduces the other iPhone models. As a result, the second-generation SE was expected alongside the trio mentioned above.
