The report comes from Economic Daily News, which claims that the Cupertino-based tech giant is already in advanced talks with a series of display manufacturers in Taiwan for a collaboration that would eventually help make the upgrade on the smartwatch possible.
While there is no confirmation at this point, a Taiwanese supplier reportedly acknowledged talks with an American tech giant.
A new upgrade for the Apple Watch is expected this fall, albeit it is highly unlikely to feature a display upgrade like the transition to microLED.
At this point, the Apple Watch uses OLED panels manufactured by LG Display.
