Apple has decided to go with its own Authentec algorithm combined with Privaris glass identification technology for its new fingerprint ID solution. Apparently, Apple didn’t pick Synaptics’ Natural ID touch fingerprint sensor nor Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint technology for its upcoming iPhone 8.
Apple’s Touch ID technology originally came from AuthenTec, the company that Apple bought in 2012. Three years later, Apple bought a number of patents relating to fingerprint and touchscreen technology, from Privaris.
