Apple is getting ready to shut down dark sky

Apple is getting ready to shut down Dark Sky, the weather app that it purchased back in March 2020, with the company now reminding users that most of the features can be found in the Weather app available on its operating systems.

The upgraded Weather app, which is now live on iOS 16 and macOS Ventura, comes with significant improvements, including detailed forecasts, high-resolution weather maps, and so much more.

Most of these improvements are powered by Dark Sky, so for Apple, keeping this application around doesn’t make sense anymore.

The application is therefore projected to be killed off on January 1, and with this demise looking, the Cupertino-based tech giant is now trying to entice users to switch to the Weather app with new support documents.
