Apple is one of the companies whose stores have been targeted by looters during the protests in the United States, and needless to say, some devices, including iPhones, ended up being stolen.

And while looters might think they’re lucky to get an iPhone at absolutely no cost, it’s not that easy, as the Cupertino-based tech giant has the necessary tools to deal with the whole thing.

So what Apple is doing right now is disable the looted iPhones remotely, with a message that shows up on the screen telling thieves that the law enforcement would be alerted.

Furthermore, the company asks looters to bring back the iPhone to the Apple Store, albeit there’s a chance this isn’t really going to happen.

“Please return to Apple Walnut Street. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted,” the message that shows up on a stolen iPhone reads according to a report from the BBC.
