TaipeiTimes is reporting via industry sources that the 4.7-inch iPhone was the best-selling smartphone in the country, and the exploding Galaxy Note 7 is one main reason. The local media explains that customers were interested in the iPhone 7 not necessarily because of the hardware upgrades that Apple made available on this model, but because of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
Samsung pulled the Note 7 due to defective batteries and most customers were looking for high-end alternatives, with the iPhone 7 said to be among the models that benefitted the most from this transition.
