Such a leak took place today, revealing what appears to be a fingerprint sensor on the back of a phone spotted during quality control stage. Posted on SlashLeaks, the video claims to show the upcoming iPhone 8, which after such a long controversy, wouldn’t come without Touch ID or a sensor embedded in the display, but with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
At this point, it’s pretty hard to tell whether this is a fake video or not, but if it’s a fake, whoever did this really tried to make it as elaborate as possible. The print of the left even includes the word “Mesa,” which is the codename Apple is using for Touch ID internally.
