Apple managed to beat analyst estimates in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2017, partially thanks to the iPhone 8 whose sales surpassed those of its predecessor in the same period in 2016.
While many believed that the iPhone 7 was selling better than the iPhone 8 and there was little reason to upgrade because of the small difference between the two generations, Apple’s financial results prove otherwise, contributing to an overall revenue increase of 12 percent to $52.6 billion.
While Apple does not disclose how many iPhone units of each generation it sold, the company did reveal that total iPhone sales the last quarter reached 46.7 million, so not only that it managed to beat the 46 million forecast, but it also achieved an important growth over the 45.5 million sold units in the same period a year before.
