And now that the iPhone 8 is up for grabs with only small design and feature upgrades as compared to the previous model, the iPhone 7S moniker appears to be a much better choice than positioning the new model as a completely new generation.
This is what customers seem to think as well, with data provided by CIRP indicating that most buyers consider the iPhone 8 a small upgrade, hence its sales in line with those of an “S” model.
Specifically, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus accounted for 16 percent of total iPhone sales in the last quarter in the United States, with the bigger model the better selling version with 10 percent.
