Key Points:

• Apple’s AI rollout is facing multiple challenges, leading to delays in several of its planned features, including the "more conversational" Siri update.
• The new, more conversational Siri update is now expected to launch in iOS 20, at the earliest, rather than in June as originally planned.
• Apple Intelligence, a feature expected in iOS 19, is unlikely to include significant consumer-facing changes, as the company is still working to complete the features announced last year.

As reported in the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Apple is experiencing major hiccups in its AI rollout. This means that several of its planned features, including the "more conversational" Siri update, are being delayed. According to the report, this new, more conversational Siri update, which was meant to debut in June, is now expected to launch with iOS 20, at the earliest.

The delay is a result of technical challenges in integrating the two separate backends for Siri, which would merge into a single, unified architecture. The "LLM Siri" system is still on track to launch with iOS 19, but the more conversational approach is being pushed back.

Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence, a feature expected to debut in iOS 19, is unlikely to include significant consumer-facing changes, as the company is still working to complete the features announced last year. The report suggests that internal data indicates that real-world usage of Apple Intelligence is "extremely low," indicating that the current feature set may not be resonating with consumers.

In light of these delays, it’s clear that Apple is prioritizing the completion of its announced features over introducing new ones in upcoming updates. For iPhone users, this means that significant changes to Siri and Apple Intelligence may not come until iOS 20, which is expected to debut in June 2027.
