As we count down to the release of iOS 18.4 for iPhone users, it’s essential to know what’s new and what’s coming. Here’s an overview of the top four features you should be aware of:
Priority Notifications: Apple Intelligence will now highlight important notifications on your Lock Screen, so you can quickly catch up on what you may have missed. You can manage Priority Notifications by going to the Settings app and adding or removing specific apps from the priority sorting. This feature is supported by iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and all 16 models.
Ambient Music: The update introduces four new Control Center toggles for playing calming music: Wellbeing, Chill, Productivity, and Sleep. You can add these to Control Center, assign them to your iPhone’s Action button, and even place them on your Lock Screen. Each toggle is linked to a default Apple Music playlist, but you can customize it to any playlist in your Music library. Playback is controlled through a simplified Now Playing interface with play/pause, skip, and AirPlay controls.
New Emoji: iOS 18.4 beta 2 adds seven new emoji to iPhone users, including face with bags under eyes, fingerprint, leafless tree, root vegetable, harp, shovel, and splatter. While these new emoji might seem less exciting in the age of Genmoji, you never know when you might need them.
Apple News+ Food: The Apple News app now features a new "Apple News+ Food" section, aggregated from top publishers and presenting thousands of curated recipes in a clear and clutter-free interface. You can filter, search, and integrate with the Clock app, making it easy to find and access your favorite recipes.
