New data shared by IDC reveals that the tablet market reached 40.5 million sold units in the second quarter of the year, up 0.15 percent year-over-year.
The numbers exceed analyst expectations, and IDC says it’s mostly the result of promotional sales and education projects.
When it comes to the brands that lead the market, Apple is by far the number one company in the tablet world.
iPad sales dropped from 12.9 million units in the second quarter of 2021 to 12.6 million units in the same quarter of this year, and while the decline could be concerning, it still allowed Apple to secure a market share of 31 percent.
The runner-up is Samsung, though the South Korean company is far behind with just 7.3 million tablets. Its market share dropped from 20.3 percent to 181. Percent.
Amazon recorded an important growth to 5.5 million units and 13.6 percent share, while Lenovo dropped substantially from 4.7 million units to 3.5 million units.
